Crossing the Strait
I took the ferry from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay to have the truck undercoated and attend the BC Airstream Club Maintenance Rally
The weather was lovely and the crossing uneventful.
Every time I cross the Strait the mountains fill me with awe.
I was at the front of the line on the ferry towing the Airstream.
The Boys Are In Town
Since I had a free day to kill in Vancouver I texted the boys a few weeks earlier and we planned a day together. I would pick up Peter and David at the ferry and we would go to Burnside Brewing for the best Grill Cheese Sandwich. The meet Owen at Speeders Richmond GoCart Track and race.
Owen set the track record for the day in our first race and then beat his record on the second race. We intend to repeat this again next year when I leave to head east. Went to the Wicklow Pub for dinner and then to close the night at Container Brewing.
Container Brewery Tour
Container Brewing is our favourite place to end the evening. Liam and his staff are great and the beer is wonderful. Liam gave us a private tour and explained the entire process.
Everything starts in the vats behind the couch.
Everything is moved by hand from one vat to the next.
It finally ends up in the fermentation tanks and the goodness comes out of the upper spigot.
Everything is refined here for storage or canning. Thanks again Liam
Vancouver Zoo
Dropped by the Vancouver Zoo on the way to the Airstream Rally.
For some reason Airstreamers like flamingos. I do not know why. Like Jeep owners collect ducks.
The zoo has large areas for each animal but only a few specimens. The big cats were hiding too far back in their area. Luckily most all have at least two of each, so they are not too lonely.
I must admit that I am conflicted about zoos that are not open preserves that allow the animals to roam free. I know so specialize is keeping injured or special needs animals but they always seem to look bored and confined.
The Park Keeper was weed whacking outside the fence while the Ostrich nibbled the grass on the inside.
Airstream BC Club Annual Maintenance Rally
The BC Airstream Club hosts an Annual Maintenance Rally and as a new owner I thought it would be great to learn from those more experienced.
Thirteen Airstreams arrived at Bob and Gail’s lovely property. The second day those more experienced walked around and inspected my trailer and others and gave me a checklist of things to be aware of. Thank you John for your expertise.
A great group with lots of travel and life experience. I look forward to seeing them again down the road.
We discussed travel plans of this year and favourite places from the past.
Hundreds of years of experience made for great conversations.
Enso II looked good along side all the others. We had a few vintage models and several brand new trailers.
Everyone enjoyed themselves are shared their knowledge with all.
Thank you all for a wonderful weekend with perfect weather.

An Airstream and a get together with the boys, you are living the dream! Congratulations!
Hi Lloyd, did you know that British TV made an excellent series called "The Sweeney " with those fine actors, John Thaw and Dennis Waterman. As gritty as television was permitted to be !! The Airstreams look fantastic and the 'boys' night out had all the required elements for a great time...Cheers
