It Rains In Paradise
Florida - Week 3 - New wrings, music theory, best onion rings, diluvian rains, and book recommendation.
Rings of Meaning
I have in mind four custom rings, two I have found. The first, folded Damascus steel with a cherry lining. It reminds me of the folds of oneโs life, that lie one upon another to make a whole.
The second, an owl in the crook of a tree, that recalls all the wise friends with whom I have shared a conversation.
The others and their meaning I will share here as they are found.
Music Theory and Practice
I have always loved the saxophone and am practicing daily to someday be able to stand under a tree in a park and bring joy to myself and others.
Until then, daily practice of long tones, scales, transcription, and tunes.
Best Onion Rings
After morning practice is a good time for a bike ride. Popped into Obiโ Fillinโ Station to journal and enjoyed some of the best onion rings I have ever eaten. Their selection of burgers is second to none.
Diluvian Rains
Wednesday the rain started around noon and built to a Southern downpour. The ground become pocketed with puddles of water. Despite the ground being pourus, it was unable to absorb the overwhelming volume of water. The puddles soon merged into a single pond in all directions. The only difference between this and the Great Deluge was that water did not gush up from beneath the ground.
The noise was greater than the sheets of rain, the pounding on the roof, or the splash of overflow from the gutters, the thunder was beyond white noise or a stampeding herd of wild elephants. The lightening exploded like cannon fire, as if the gods were waging war upon the earth. I forgot the violence of a Southern thunder storm.
Paper Collage by Georges Perrons
This is my new favourite โOccasional Bookโcarried to be read during those small moments throughout a day. Recommended by Enrique Enriquez, who was reading the original French version when we met in New York City. I am enjoying the translation by John Taylor.
