Castle Tour in Pictures
Discovered this on Google Maps and have a soft spot for stone architecture. This is a true find. Built in the late 1880’s with over a dozen exotic woods and European stone masons. The above is the side entrance used today as the main entrance.
All four floors and both the front and back rooms are open. This is only a small sampling of the many sights to be seen.
The woodwork is world class. This is as fine a home as The Biltmore House, any of the Jekyll Island “cottages”, or the mansions of Newport.
Every where you look the wood is exotic, the joinery is tight, and finish is exquisite.
The home looks like the family just stepped out.
So many of the pieces are unique and only enhance the experience.
The open staircase rises through the centre of the house.
You could spend days here and never see all the details.
My favourite room was the smoking room with two comfortable leather chairs facing a grand fireplace. The house is dark and makes photography difficult, but helps to preserve the art. If you love fine architecture this is not to be missed.
